Becky VanNote Bio

I am the mother of 3 children,
Rachael (2002),
Brady (2004),
and
Will (2005), who were all born naturally. My
3rd child was born at home! You can read
their birth stories by clicking on their names.
I have been a childbirth educator since early 2004. My journey into birth began with my daughter’s pregnancy in 2002
when I began my childbirth class. I was amazed by how much I didn’t know about pregnancy and birth.
I was also astounded by the many misconceptions about what a safe
birth and a normal birth is.
After the birth of my daughter, I discovered my passion for telling
others about how wonderful birth can be – what an amazing and empowering
experience it is.
I certified to become a childbirth educator, and
after the birth of my first son I began teaching.
I have taught so many families how they can make their pregnancies and
births safe and more pleasant. I am honored to have the privilege of entering these families’
lives at such an important time. I love helping other families introduce
their babies to the world in a loving, caring environment without the
challenges that unnecessary interventions can bring.
Over
the years, I have had a subtle but very noticeable shift in philosophy.
Trusting the body’s ability to grow and birth babies is so
important.
Birth is not something to be feared, and does not have to be painful. Birth
can be an
amazing, beautiful experience. The
method I was teaching no longer fit with what I believed about what made
birth more comfortable and pleasant for women.I decided it was time to shift from teaching a method to teaching
women as individuals. My
partners and I wrote a class called
Intuitive Birth, with the goal of
helping women find their own instinctive knowledge of what would help
them stay safe, positive and comfortable during labor. My goal is to empower you and
educate you so you can make decisions that are best for
YOUR family.
