| Breastfeeding is the healthiest way to feed your baby, but sometimes what we
think should come naturally ends up being more difficult than we expect. Our
lactation specialists will come to your home to help you through any
breastfeeding challenges you may have. If you're having problems breastfeeding,
please seek help before giving up. Nursing your baby can be one of the most
rewarding experiences in your life, and you'll find that once you're through the
early challenges, it is no longer difficult. Another great way to get breastfeeding off to a great start is to take a breastfeeding class during your pregnancy. We offer group and private classes. I have personal experience with nursing my own children - one preemie who had serious issues with nursing and ended up getting exclusively pumped milk and one full term who is still nursing at 17 months! It has been through these unique relationships with my children that I have developed as a mother - learning the intricacies and facets of my children. I see my role as a Breastfeeding Counselor to help aid you and your baby through the many phases of this journey as easily and sensitively as possible. I am not there to barge in and take over, I am there to walk alongside and support to achieve the goals you have for yourself! |

| Breastfeeding Your Baby Class | |||
| While it may seem like it should come naturally, breastfeeding is not always without challenges. Be prepared to face those challenges head-on. You'll learn about the benefits of breastfeeding (some of them may surprise you!), how to overcome doubts and uncertainty, what the early days of breastfeeding will be like, nursing positions and props, and how to work through various breastfeeding problems. You'll also learn about pumping and supplementing, introducing solids, and weaning.
This class costs $45 per couple for group classes, and $60 for private classes. Baby Steps also offers hands-on support from a Certified Lactation Specialist. Click here for more information. |

I
received my training in lactation counseling from The Healthy Children's
Project Center for Breastfeeding in October 2010, and I am certified
through the Academy of Lactation Policy and Practice (ALPP). I am
currently working toward gaining my clinical contact hours to sit for
the IBCLC examination. 
The relationship between breastfeeding mom and baby is unique and very special. I am currently in training through Childbirth International to finish my Breastfeeding Counselor, just need my contact hours!
