Parenting is one way that people really come to discover the issues about which they feel most strongly. Whether it’s childbirth, circumcision, vaccinations or other health care decisions, attachment parenting, or schooling, our love for our children can inspire strong feelings and ideas. And many times we run into opposition.
As a mother, childbirth educator, business owner, breastfeeding/anti-circumcision/homebirth advocate I have the opportunity to debate topics on a regular basis. I welcome the challenge and the different perspectives as ways to educate myself and develop a stronger compassion for others. Do you feel it is possible to discuss and challenge each other and ourselves through considerate debate? How do you handle the challenge of educating others when you feel strongly about something?
